My stay at Hotel Ava was pretty disappointing, mainly due to cleanliness and maintenance issues. The staff were friendly and tried to help, but it felt like the management really dropped the ball. I got a sense of potential in the location, but the experience itself left a lot to be desired.

Rooms
5.0
The first room I was given was a disaster—no lock on the door, no AC, and the carpet was stained. I had to switch to another room, which was slightly better but still had a leaky toilet and shower. Plus, a cockroach crawled out from my bed in the first room! Not cool.
Service
5.0
The front desk staff were nice and apologetic, always willing to help when I brought up my issues. However, it was frustrating that the manager never bothered to come out and address any of the concerns, which felt unprofessional.
Location
5.0
The location itself was beautiful, but it was a hassle to get around with the poor layout of the hotel. I had to walk a long way just to reach the front desk and find vending machines, which wasn't ideal.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast had made-to-order omelets and was decent, but honestly, the coffee was weak and not what I hoped for. They had some seasonal veggies, which was a nice touch, but nothing to write home about.
Facilities
5.0
The general maintenance of the hotel left much to be desired—lots of potholes in the parking area and poor lighting in some outdoor corridors raised security concerns for me. The facilities could really use a good clean-up and some attention.

My stay at Hotel Ava was far from pleasant. I experienced multiple issues with room assignments and cleanliness, which made my time here stressful. The breakfast was decent, but the overall experience left much to be desired.

Rooms
5.0
I was switched into multiple rooms due to them being occupied or dirty. The last room I entered had fecal matter in the toilet and was unclean. It was a frustrating ordeal that lasted for hours.
Service
5.0
Some staff were friendly and courteous, especially one named Whitney. However, my overall interactions often felt rushed and disorganized, impacting my experience negatively.
Location
5.0
The hotel's location was good for access to Texas Tech and nearby amenities. but the state of the facilities and cleanliness overshadowed the convenience.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was one of the few positives, with vegetarian options available, but no one informed me about it. It felt like a small consolation amidst the chaos.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel showed signs of neglect, like parts of the ceiling falling down and non-functional spaces, which made it hard to feel comfortable during my stay.

6.4/10

My stay at Hotel Ava was more frustrating than enjoyable. The location was convenient to major roads, but the service left much to be desired, with long check-in times, rude desk staff, and dirty rooms. While I appreciated the nearby dining options, the overall experience was marred by issues that made it hard to recommend.

Rooms
5.0
Upon arrival, my first room was occupied by another guest. After several room changes, I ended up in one that smelled musty and had a broken AC. The plumbing issues were also frustrating, especially the shower performance.
Service
5.0
The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and unhelpful, which made check-in a nightmare. I encountered rude interactions, particularly when I expressed concerns about my accommodations.
Location
5.0
The hotel is conveniently located near major streets, which was a plus. However, the surrounding area didn't entirely make up for the poor service and dirty conditions.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast offerings were lacking and not timely. I was hoping for a better experience, especially considering the Texas waffle I had heard about.
Facilities
5.0
While the hotel’s facilities had potential, they were poorly maintained. I saw parts of the ceiling that had fallen and remained unattended for hours.

My stay at Hotel Ava was incredibly disappointing. I encountered numerous issues, from a late check-in to cleanliness problems in my room. While the breakfast seemed decent, it couldn't mask the overwhelming frustrations I felt throughout my visit.

Rooms

Upon entering my room, I found it half-cleaned, with sheets strewn about and trash left behind, including an old McDonald's cup. It felt like no one had prepared the room for my arrival, despite ample time to do so.
Service
5.0
The check-in process was maddening. I waited over two hours for my room key after arriving just before midnight, with only one staff member trying to manage the chaos. It left me feeling frustrated and extremely dissatisfied.
Location
5.0
The hotel's atmosphere was marred by visible disrepair—wires hanging from the ceiling made it feel more uninviting than anything. I felt uneasy during my stay, which detracted from anything nice about the area.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast included made-to-order omelets and a variety of options, but my satisfaction was overshadowed by the overall experience. I missed breakfast the next morning due to the delay in getting my room.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities had their charm, like the large atrium area, but my overall experience with cleanliness and service left much to be desired. It did not feel well-maintained or functional during my stay.
